    According to wikipedia it’s actually 1.05%.

    There are approx double the amount of HIV infected people in the USA (though it has a much larger population).

    I think 10% infection rate in Pattaya would be well off the mark. The rate you have there was probably associated with the Thai frequented brothels in the north of the country (eg: Chiang mai) where condom use was rare.
